Email Checker

Find out whether an email address is valid and can receive mail before you send to it or add it to a list. The address stays in your browser; only its domain is looked up.

Enter an address and press Check Email. The address stays in your browser; only its domain is looked up.

How the checks work

The format check follows the rules of email-validator, the library behind most Python sign-up forms and behind Data Legion's own matching: one @, allowed characters on each side, real domain labels, and no reserved names like .local or .test. The domain check asks DNS for the domain's mail servers. A domain with none, or one that publishes a "no mail" record, will bounce every message.

Disposable inboxes, alias services, free providers, role mailboxes and placeholder addresses are not errors. They are worth knowing before you add an address to a list: a disposable inbox may be gone tomorrow, and info@ reaches a team rather than a person.

Data Legion matches people, so its Person Enrichment API skips role and placeholder addresses. To check addresses in code, the free Validate API and Clean API run the same format rules with any Data Legion API key.
