Admins and developers manage keys on the API Keys page. A key belongs to one team, and calls made with it draw on that team’s credits. Send it in the API-Key header (see Authentication).

Create a key

  1. Select Create API Key.
  2. Give it a name you’ll recognize later (optional) and choose its team.
  3. Copy the key from the dialog. You can only see a key once, so store it somewhere safe, such as your secrets manager.

See what a key can call

Each key shows the endpoints it’s enabled for and the rate limit on each, from your team’s contracts. “No limit” means the endpoint has no limit of its own.

Rename, roll or archive

  • Rename changes only the display name.
  • Roll creates a new key with the same settings and archives the old one at once: requests using the old key stop working. Use it when a key may have leaked.
  • Archive turns a key off for good. It can’t be undone.
The audit log (Audit Logs, admins only) records each of these.
